Youseum
2019
'Youseum' is a product repair platform that aims to keep cherished items alive. Valuing the idea that each item has a story to tell, Youseum keeps these alive through it's online send and receive process, where a broken item is sent via mail to a specific professional repairs department, and returned to the consumer repaired with as much of its characteristics untouched as possible
The icon takes inspiration from the japense practise of 'Kintsugi', where broken pottery is mended with urushi lacquer mixed with powdered gold, celebrating the object's history rather than hiding its imperfections. The broken circle creates the youseum 'Y' through its negative space, so when positioned over the brands gold, this practise is further re-enforced.
